Will Medicare pay for a tummy tuck as my stomach skin hangs and has the skin beneath it split open and my belly button too. The skin is gapping open and my belly button is split open too from that skin. |

Usually insurance groups, like Medicare, will not pay for what is considered cosmetic surgery unless it is medically necessary. Contact your Medicare provider and ask for their requirements. They may approve the procedure if a doctor determines that would correct the problem you are experiencing. Regardless, I would recommend seeing a doctor about the condition.

The answer to that question is NO and Yes. In most cases they will not cover a tummy tuck because they consider it cosmetic surgery. If a surgeon determines that a tummy tuck is medically necessary because of infections they MAY cover it. Your surgeon will diagnose the situation to determine if a tummy tuck is necessary and then present an evaluation to Medicare. A person that has heavy masses of hanging skin causing serious infections has the best chance. If your request is turned down the surgeon can appeal but there is still no guarantee that it will be covered.
