Medicaid Coverage of Medicare Premium Huge hospital bills for my brother. In the past he has not had any copays in the office. After the hospitalization, I am told by multiple physician offices that Medicaid only covers the Part B premium for Medicare. In the past, I thought Medicaid covered the 20% that Medicare did not cover. |

It depends on what type of Medicaid he has and the state you live in. Medicaid comes in at five different levels, Full Medicaid, QMB, SLM, Q1 & Q2. You brother may have been eligible for full Medicaid previously, but may have had an increase in income, thereby making him ineligible for full Medicaid.
If your state has a medically needy Medicaid program, Medicaid may pay part of his hospital bills. If not, contact, contact the financial counselors at the hospital to see if he is eligible for their charity program.
